Capacity Building on Routine Immunization Data Analysis and visualization using Machine Learning (ML)

Our project equips healthcare teams with predictive analytics to identify children at risk of missed vaccinations, reduce defaulter rates, and reach zero-dose children. By integrating data sources, creating actionable dashboards and GIS maps, and enabling digital immunization platforms, we support smarter decisions and proactive outreach for improved healthcare outcomes.

About the Project

The project is designed to strengthen the skills of health professionals, data analysts, and program managers in transforming data into meaningful insights for informed decision-making.

This initiative focuses on building practical capacity in Digital health, data analysis, visualization, and predictive modeling by using modern data mining, business intelligence, and machine learning tools. Participants learn how to clean, process, analyze, and present data effectively to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities for improving programs.

The project incorporates a wide range of industry-standard tools and technologies, including:

  • Weka for data mining and predictive analytics

  • Python for data analysis, automation, and machine learning

  • Microsoft Excel for data cleaning and basic analytics

  • Tableau for interactive dashboards and reports

  • Microsoft Power BI for business intelligence and data storytelling

  • Looker Studio (formerly Google Data Studio) for cloud-based reporting

  • Data wrapper for simple and engaging charts

  • Chart.js for web-based data visualization

  • R for statistical computing and visualization

  • Generative AI for intelligent insights, automation, and content generation

  • QGIS for geospatial mapping and analysis

  • Flourish Studio for interactive storytelling and animated visualizations

By combining machine learning techniques, interactive data visualization, and geospatial analysis, the project empowers organizations to make evidence-based decisions, improve health system, and strengthen public health outcomes.

Position overview

The Fellow’s role offers an immersive opportunity for aspiring data professionals to drive transformative change. As a Fellow, you will be part of a pioneering initiative that empowers individuals to create meaningful impact. This program is ideal for those who are passionate about harnessing technology and data for positive change and wish to contribute to the growth of innovative nonprofit organizations. Your role will be pivotal in advancing the organization's mission and addressing public health policy and governance challenges through data-driven solutions. Throughout the program, you'll receive personalized guidance from experienced mentors, fostering your growth as a data professional and equipping you to tackle real-world challenges with confidence. Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a relevant field like Public Health, Data science, Computer science engineering, Business Administration is a strong requirement; experience in routine immunization program is an added bonus

  • Passion for addressing public health challenges and a commitment to social impact.

Note: This is a virtual fellowship program, and all fellows who successfully complete the program will receive a certificate. During the fellowship, the organization will conduct weekly online classes via Zoom on Data, Analytics, Machine Learning, and Artificial Intelligence. By the end of the program, fellows will gain expertise in the analysis and visualization of data. To receive the certificate, each fellow must submit a final project at the end of the fellowship.

Applicants must have access to a working laptop and a stable internet connection. We will try to accommodate a few fellows within the organization for in-office opportunities, depending on the availability of funds. Please note that no stipend will be provided during the fellowship period.
